Cold Sores and Herpes Infections

Chicory

Cold sores and Herpes infections are part of the same virus family. They occur when the immune system is down and you are overly stressed. Usually the large intestines are not working efficiently causing toxic overload. Irritation occurs and then an ulcer appears.

Recommendations

A diet too high in acid forming foods and with nutritional deficiencies must be avoided.
One aspect of herpes infections involves the ratio of lysine to arginine in the diet. A higher lysine to arginine ratio seems to help reduce the incidence of herpes outbreaks. Animal protein provides ratios of about 3 or 4:1, where as vegetables are closer to 1:1 ratio.

An herbal consultation identifying your specific needs and using herbs for acute infections as well as long term can keep the herpes virus at bay. This applies to genital herpes as well.
