Extreme stress

Extreme stress creates an over production of cortisol, an energy hormone, that should be produced during the day. Night sweats are common and may result from inappropriate physiological function where the body works day and night in response to the stress. Waking after a few hours of sleep and not being able to go back to sleep for a couple of hours is a sure sign of stress. Stress can cause the blood pressure to rise resulting in hypertension or it can create hypotension with very low blood pressure, dizziness, fainting and hypoglycaemia.
Recommendations
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine and tobacco. Eat deep-water sea fish at least three times a week. Make sure that your diet contains plenty of vegetables especially broccoli, cabbage, watercress and kale.
- Take Vitamin C and a B-complex supplement (ask me for details).
- Take positive action to relieve stressful situations. Moderate exercise helps to stimulate the adrenal glands.
